Another 6 hour contribution!

Hallo!

Tonight I raced home hoping to get the 50 sheets of drywall into the basement before the rain started. It was a hard task using all the will power I had to muster up the energy to do such a tedious task (read that again slowly and I swear it will make sense, or maybe only to me because I'm so tired).

It never did rain. But, now all that drywall is safe inside the house. Only now I think I bought twice what I needed. It just seems like a lot...

Anyway, so during the day Ryan put vapour barrier to one of the walls and then finished drywalling that wall. When I came home we finished drywalling the front room and then the ceiling in the bedroom.

Sooooo tired.

Here are the pictures... I think I'll add comments tomorrow or later.

Vapour barrier ready!

Ryan took this picture because he said when my grandmother saw it she saw a certain figurine out of it. Can you see it? What do you think it looks like?

2nd wall of drywall done!

The sheets of drywall that I thought would never end while we were bringing them inside.

Look, another wall almost done. This stuff goes up so quickly! I love it!!

So basically the front room is done with installing drywall. Just have to finish the finicky places like the front cupboard, the door frame and the window.

I decided to introduce Chance to the mailbox. Ryan tore the door off so that we can insulate the wall. I think Chance liked it!

Hallo!

I love this picture because Chance's eyes aren't doing crazy cat things!

And now the ceiling is done in the bedroom. Next are the walls and then the bathroom. The bathroom gets special treatment with better drywall and some other material for the shower/bath.

EMERGENCY!

Hello Again Dear Readers,

Where do I begin? Well, tonight, after my "Day of doctors appointments", Ryan and I got started on bringing the drywall in off the driveway. Unfortunately, as we were bringing in the first piece, my hip got stuck on a nail and, how do I say this nicely? Well, I now have a little gash that just might leave a nice little scar. Hopefully my needle of radiation will sterilize that area!

Ryan says, "Maybe now you can heal like Wolverine..."

So after my little incident we brought in a few pieces of drywall and started to attach it to the ceiling. It's kind of neat because, with the strapping that's on the ceiling the drywall hangs a bit creating a bit of a spacer that acts as a sound barrier.

Then we stopped for a candlelight, sorry, broken lamp dinner!

Then we finished the one wall with drywall and brought in another 10 sheets. Now it's 12:22am and I'm going to bed!

Hopefully we can finish the drywall this weekend but with all the other commitments we have it might not happen. We shall see...

Enjoy the pictures, which by the way, now take only a couple of minutes to up-load to the blog!!! Why, because we changed to Primus high speed. They offer a package which gives us more upgrades for the price we were paying for no upgrades!

Good night...morning...

Fist piece of drywall...

See the gap I was talking about?

A few more pieces of drywall...

Look at us go! Half the ceiling is up already!

The walls have been started!

I'm SO Stupid!

Hello Dear Readers,
I just wasted my night at a direct marketing seminar where I supposedly won one of five fabulous prizes, but I didn't. Guess what I won? A seven day stay at a condo somewhere in Cuba. No air fair, no food and I have to pay the taxes. Oh yeah right, as if buying everything else will be cheaper than getting an all inclusive deal. So beware, Fun for Life Travel is a huge scam, unless you have $16,000.00 to spend. Anyone? And then they wouldn't let me say no and when I finally told them that after sitting there listening to their schpeel for two hours, I was quiet confident that I didn't want any part of it, even if they did bring the price down to $4000.00 including a trip to Las Vegas and a small cruise, no air fair included. Did I mention that they made me walk out the back door into an abandoned parking lot in the dark? So yes, I am so mad at myself. Especially when I could have watched Top Model and then worked on bringing 51 sheets of drywall into the house.
Well, it's 9:57pm. Let's see what we can do. At least the weather is co-operating. I'll add some pictures too!

"Whatcha doing Ryan?"
"Oh, some electrical. Are you sure you know what you're doing?"
"I guess you'll give it a try!"
" OH NO!!!"
Happy Birthday Binas!!! (left to right, Kat, Sabrina, Kristina)

So this is my wonderful job of caulking the seams of the sono pan. I must say, my neck was a little sore afterwards!

This is the "oh so exciting" electrical work I was talking about.

Do you feel the adrenaline?

And a far shot just to let you know that Ryan is really ok!

Happy Belated Birthday Rita and Sabrina!!!

And Happy today birthday Kurt!

So lately Ryan and I have been working at a slower pace. Saturday, when the window trim got the better of us, we decided to pack it up around 6pm and head out for some mood altering (for the better) food! Sunday we decided to work on the upper level and leave the basement untouched for the day.

Monday was Sabrina's birthday so we spent the entire day celebrating! And no we weren't celebrating by building the basement, I actually got out for the day!

Then tonight I got home later from work, had a nice BBQ and sealed up the seams in the sonopan while Ryan worked on stuffing insulation back into the wall and completing the main stage of the electrical. Good news! We had an electrician friend come by and Ryan got a good grade on his electrical report card! It was a pass!

Tomorrow the drywall will be delivered. Hopefully things will start to look like their happening again! Which means I will add some more pictures...eventually. Tonight it's time for bed.

Goodnight and have a great Wednesday!!!

Feeling a Bit Better

And we meet again!
So today Ryan worked at finishing off the wiring and working on some plumbing. When I got home I asked what I could help with and I got the lovely job of drilling holes in the studs for more wires to go through. Then Ryan asked me to thread the wire, which was for the baseboard heaters we may need to install, and guess what? I'm not an electrician. And guess what? I never want to be an electrician! Just threading one wire was frustrating enough! You'll see. I'll post the pictures.
Anyway, Ryan and I hope to start drywalling next week. Once the drywall goes up things will really start to come together!
Oh, Ryan and I have also started looking around for a basement fridge and stove, if anyone knows of some cheap ones.... we just have some measurement constrictions for coming down the stairs. We saw a scratch and dent stainless steel stove and fridge for $500 each but that is still too much for what we would be paying for.
So now it's time to start loading the pictures! I'll try to start posting more regularly now except that Sabrina's Birthday is coming up and we have lots of celebrating to do. Someone else's birthday is coming up too, I wonder if that birthday girl knows who I'm talking about, Ms. March 24th!!!
Drilling the holes...

And feeding the wire....never again!

" I'se been framed! "

Story short, because it's bed time, I worked overtime last weekend at the International Home and Garden Show. And since it snowed on Saturday, Ryan had to work as well. Then on Sunday he came to visit me at the show. Apart from that I have been feeling sick for the past few days and didn't have the strength to go into the basement to do anything. Every night after my drive home from work I took off my shoes and into the bed I crawled. Today, Thursday night, is the first night I haven't felt completely exhausted. Here are some pictures of what Ryan has completed within the last few days. Enjoy while I post this evenings pictures. The captions were written by Ryan in his signature blue writing!
May I hang your coat?
What a lovely mess!

March 15

Ok, we have now been able to add comments....

This is the screen I look at almost as much as the basement I live in.

My weapons all racked out...

"Does that wall look plumb?"

The framing goes up quickly!

Go Ryan Go!

Now it's time to close up the through way!

Time to seal the seams!

Isn't it exciting now that we can actually see some change?

So now we have to frame the other side of the room.

Again, done for the evening!

Drafting It

FYI: Ryan writes in blue and I write in black.
Enjoy!
Now we know why there is water seeping through the foundation wall...
I tried to highlight the pooled water...

Like the lamp?

Sub-floor evolving...

See my gusher?!

Oh my beating heart!

Inspector Chance, comfortable enough that we are doing a good job.

Our own green-room!

That's enough for tonight!
